As a music executive, her work always comes first, and she loses many men to her job. Levar is twenty years her senior, and still heartsick over a wife he lost thirty years earlier in a terrible crime. The two find each other unexpectedly and come together. They find something in each other that each of them had been looking for, whether they wanted to admit it or not. Will they overcome their demons and their pasts and save their love for each other alone? ---------------------------------------------------------- EXCERPT FROM BOOK He remembered her aura of invincibility, and how after they were married she carried him under that umbrella. Her aura fell on him and protected him. He learned to walk with his head as high as hers. They were in love and they would not hide it to protect anyone else's feelings. They could think what they wanted, but they better keep it to themselves. She taught him so many things, and the first was to never be ashamed of your love. It was how he still looked at the picture. She was gone but he still loved her and refused to be ashamed. Everyone was understanding at first, even after a few years. When she had been gone five years there were whispers. He was still a young man. Ten years gone and his friends begged him to move on. They told him that she would want him to. There were more fish in the sea. He could love again. But he refused to put himself out there. He was still hopelessly in love with her, and she was gone. Eventually, the calls for him to find love again just faded away. They gave up on him. He grew old. He became an old man who ritually held vigil with a memory. He wasn't depressed. He lived his life. He laughed. He loved his friends. But the romance of his life seemed to have been spent, burned through early in a manic rush to love one woman as much as possible. "Evelyn, " he whispered to the picture. AUTHOR'S NOTE: This is a 8, 000 word stand-alone story with an HEA, so no cliff-hangers!
