The book and Kindle version both contain 50 scripture quotations and the stories behind them...and a history of how the quotations have come to be used (and misused) in conversation. What may be unusual for the Kindle version are the 50 illustrations it contains. Even regular church-goers and Bible readers have been surprised by some of the quotations and their origins. For example, "Go the extra mile" might suggest a football team pep talk or a CEO exhorting his staff to be more productive, but it was originally a Biblical concept that meant to encourage believers to humbly extend themselves for others. The "extra mile" term referred to the practice of Roman soldiers, in those days, who under military regulation and Roman law, could induce a Jewish citizen to carry the soldier's gear for up to one mile.
